Eduard 1/72 Hellcat Mk.I Masks
By Matt Bittner
One aftermarket item that has been a boon to modeling, and one I bet most people prefer to use, are pre-made masks. These can be masks for the canopy, wheel/tire or even camouflage patterns but whichever can be a time-saver for modeling. Whenever they're available I will always pick up the masks for a given subject and most times they can be re-used multiple times.
But sometimes masks do give out over time (especially if you're on your twentieth model of a specific type of kit) or some releases don't contain masks (or aren't even offered by the kit manufacturer). Eduard saw this need and has created quite the long line of masks for various kits, their own included.
Since Eduard Weekend kits do not come with masks (or resin or photoetch items, either) they do release masks separately so if someone wants a Weekend kit (maybe because of the markings provided) but still wants masks to speed-up the finishing of the model, they can buy masks separately. This is the case with their Hellcat Mk.I (or F6F Hellcat if building a U.S. version). Not only does this set come with masks for the clear parts but it also contains masks for the wheels. So if you need a set of masks for your Weekend Hellcat Mk.I (or any of the Eduard 1/72 F6F series) then pick up this mask set. You'll be glad you did.
My thanks to Eduard for sending the review masks.
