Eduard 1/72 Zoom Harrier GR.3 Interior for Airfix Kit
By Chris Banyai-Riepl
Overview
The recent new-tool Airfix 1/72 Harrier GR.3 is proving to be quite popular, despite a small error with the vertical fin. Aside from that, out of the box the Harrier builds up into a good looking replica of the GR.3, but of course those wanting to go a bit further will look to Eduard for photoetch enhancements. Here's their Zoom set designed for the Airfix kit.
The Photoetch
Typical of the latest Eduard Zoom sets, this one provides a solid mix of pre-painted and unpainted photoetch parts. The single fret provides several dozen parts, with a small sheet of clear acetate providing material for the gunsight. Most of the details form the interior, with seatbelts, instrument panel, rudder pedals, and sidewall details that include the throttle.
Exterior details include some various panels on the tail stinger, vents and hatches on the upper fuselage, wheel well details, canopy rails, and a windshield wiper. Also included is the canopy detonation wire, as well as the rear view mirror. There is minimal folding on this set, making it an easy one for beginners.
Conclusion
This set is a simple way to add a bit of extra detail to the Airfix Harrier GR.3 kit without resorting to a whole pile of aftermarket sets. My thanks to Eduard for the review sample.
