Eduard Brassin 1/48 Bf109G-6/U-4 Cockpit
By Jacob Russell
This is Eduard's Brassin cockpit for Tamiya's recent Messerschmitt Bf109G-6/U-4 kit. It consists of 64 parts. 22 of the parts are resin and 40 are photo-etch on 2 frets, one of which is pre-painted. There is also a sheet of acetate gun sight lenses and an instrument panel decal.
The quality of Eduard's resin is superb. You have your choice of 2 different gun covers and instrument panels. In the latter instance you can either use an instrument decal panel or go the photo-etch route. The results will be great either way. You also get a clear piece of solid resin for the "Galland Panzer" canopy armor. The sidewall detail is very impressive and it will look great under a coat of RLM 66 Gray.
The pre-painted PE fret includes an instrument panel, seat harness, canopy lock, etc. The other fret includes 2 styles of canopy armor, rudder pedals, landing gear retraction wheels and chains, early and late style storage compartment doors, etc.
Tamiya's new Bf109G-6 is a superb, accurate and highly detailed kit with many innovative features. You can build a great model right out of the box but if you're looking to take your kit to the next level this Brassin cockpit will help your model stand out. I recommend this kit and I would like to thank Eduard for the review sample.
