Eduard Brassin 1/48 FW190A-4 Cockpit
By Jacob Russell
This Brassin cockpit set is for Eduard's recent Focke-Wulf FW190A-4 kit. It consists of 59 parts, of which 22 are resin. You also get 35 photo-etched parts, many of them pre-painted, on a single fret. There is also a single acetate sheet containing 4 gun sight lenses, and a small decal sheet of intrument dial faces.
The detail of the resin components is spectacular, especially that of the sidewalls and the floor. Focke-Wulf cockpits were painted RLM 66, a fairly dark grey, so I recommend that you add some Neutral Grey or white paint to the RLM 66 so that excellent detail is easier to see.
The photo-etched pieces add more detail and finesse. The PE fret includes such items as a new instrument panel and seat harness. There is also a cockpit storage access hatch, rudder pedals, etc.
Conclusion
Eduard's series of Wurger kits have been well received. They are accurate in shape and outline, well detailed and appropriately complex. The FW190A-4 kit interior is quite nice, but it pales in comparison to the Brassin cockpit which has a much higher detail level. I recommend this Brassin cockpit set and I would like to thank Eduard for the review sample.
