Eduard Brassin 1/72 MiG-21MF Upgrades
By Jacob Russell
Eduard recently introduced a superb MiG-21 MF kit and of course of a suite of PE and Brassin upgrades quickly followed, so let's take a look at three of the Brassin sets.
First up is a new exhaust nozzle (item number 672 181). This 7 piece set consists of 3 highly detailed resin parts and 4 photo-etched pieces on a single fret. Their injection molded counterparts in the kit are very good indeed, but these resin and PE parts are superior in detail.
Next is a new ejection seat (672 182). Once again the injection molded kit parts have to give best to their resin replacements. The seat itself is composed of the seat itself and a separate head rest, plus a pre-painted photo-etched harness on a single fret.
Finally we have a new set of wheels (672 197). You get six resin wheels plus a set of pre-cut masks made from Eduard's customary rice paper. There are 2 identical front wheels, plus you get your choice of 2 pairs of main wheels One pair has the customary slots while the others have flat disc faces. These wheels were evidently rarely used on the MiG-21MF, so if you have photographic evidence to support their use these are a nice and useful option to have!
So there you have it, three very useful Brassin sets for Eduard's new MiG-21MF. It is an accurate, well detailed kit and it will be a great build. These resin and PE upgrades are well worth the investment. I recommend them and I would like to thank Eduard for the review samples.
