Eduard Brassin 1/72 Spitfire Mk.VIII Cockpit
By Jacob Russell
This new Brassin cockpit is for Eduard's own 1/72nd scale Supermarine Spitfire Mk.VIII kit, but it is also applicable to their Spitfire Mk.IX kit(s). This one of Eduard's typical multimedia productions. It consists of 46 parts. 22 of the interior components are molded in gray resin. 23 of the parts are photo-etch on a single fret and some of these are pre-painted. There is also a single sheet of acetate containing 3 gun sight lenses.
I am particularly impressed with the instrument panel. It is a complex "sandwich" of pre-painted PE on top of a resin base and the detail of these parts is quite impressive. The cockpit floor and sidewalls are exceptionally well detailed and they will look great with an oil wash and some careful dry brushing.
Eduard's 1/72nd scale Supermarine Spitfire kits are top class. They are accurate and well detailed, and a solid value. This Brassin set ups the ante in the cockpit area. Make sure that you use the kit's sliding canopy, because you'll want to show off the fruits of your labors. I recommend this Brassin cockpit and I would like to thank Eduard for the review sample.
