JBr Decals 1/144 MiG-21MFN Booklet and Decals
By Matt Bittner
A few months ago I reviewed the MiG-21MFN Booklet and Decals in 1/48. JBr Decals has now released the same set – plus more – in 1/144 scale to be used with the superlative Eduard kits.
Everything I mention in my 1/48 review holds true for this release as well. The booklet points out all MiG-21MFNs along with their differences (for example, even though they were all painted "gray", the gray varied, airframe-to-airframe). The one difference between the 1/48 and 1/144 releases is the 1/144 set comes with a fret of photoetch to reproduce the distinctive and unique MiG-21MFN antennas. Be sure to study the booklet and other references to be sure which ones were on the aircraft you're modeling, though.
The one aircraft not covered with this release, though, is #2500, what JBr Decals calls the Tiger Fishbed. This was the specially-marked MiG-21FN that had a paint scheme specifically for the 45th anniversary of Čáslav AFB. This aircraft was covered as an earlier, separate release from JBr Decals.
Note the photoetch set is available for purchase separately.
Huge thanks to JBr Decals for not only making the package in 1/144 but also for the review set.
