JBr Decals 1/72 Delta Fishbeds
By Matt Bittner
According to the instructions:
"Delta Acrobatic Group, also known as Delta F, was a group of pilots flying MiG-21MF for airshow displays and part of the Czechoslovak and later Czech Air Force Display Team. The Display Team as whole consisted of pilots flying displays with almost every type in the service of the Czech Air Force of that time: MiG-21, MiG-23, MiG-29, Su-22 (solo and group of 4), L-29, L-39, L-410 (group of 4) and Mi-24 (group of 2 and 4). Established shortly after the fall of the Iron Curtain it was tasked with presenting the capabilities of the Czech pilots not only at domestic show but also abroad. After the break up of Czechoslovakia, budget cuts and closing of several bases in the first half of 1990s the display team as whole was disbanded and airshow displays were flown by pilots from line units. Acrobatic displays of MiG-21 were flown by pilots and aircraft of the so called "Stress Flight" of the Aviation Test Division until 1998 when its MiG-21MF 7711 and MiG-21UM 3756 collided mid-air while returning from Airshow in Pardubice (all 3 pilots ejected safely). Both aircraft impacted ground in an urban area but luckily despite heavy damage to houses, cars and a steam pipe-line there were no fatalities on the ground."
This 1/72 release from JBr Decals for a 1/72 MiG-21MF consists of three of "Delta F": MiG-21MF 2205 finished in overall "grey" with blue/red/white stripes; MiG-21MF 2410 finished in the same way; and MiG-21MF 7709 finished in brown and green over light blue camouflage and like the other two, with the blue/red/white stripes. Not only does this release contain nicely printed decals, appearing to be in register, but also masks to help create the stripes on the wing and fuselage.
So if you have a 1/72 MiG-21MF and want a different, more colorful scheme, then definitely pick up these decals. Hopefully it won't be too long of a wait for Eduard to release their 1/72 miG-21s.
My thanks to JBr Decals for the review sample.
