Starfighter Decals 1/72 Bent Wing Birds Part I Corsairs in G Markings
By Matt Bittner
Usually when aftermarket companies release decals for aircraft, they tend to be those flown by either famous people or aces. This release from Starfighter Decals for 1/72 F4U Corsairs are for actual "line birds", some flown by lesser-known individuals.
The following aircraft can be modeled from this release:
- F4U-1D, 57897, VBF-85, 9, USS Shangri-La, 1945
- FG-1D, 82797, VF-83, 185, USS Essex, 1945
- F4U-1D, 82325, VMF-112, 3, USS Bennington, 1945
- F4U-1D, unknown, VF-5, 4, USS Franklin, 1945
- F4U-1D, unknown, VBF-6, 28, USS Hancock, 1945
- F4U-1D, unknown, VMF-216, 114, USS Wasp, 1945
All are all-over "blue" and all have distinct white markings. Decals are to the usual Starfighter high standards and appear to be in register.
If you're looking for markings for your Tamiya Corsair (or the upcoming new-tool Revell kit) look no further than Starfighter Decals.
My thanks to Starfighter Decals for sending this sheet of Corsairs in for review.
