Starfighter Decals 1/72 Bent Wing Birds Pt. 2 Corsairs in the Reserves
By Matt Bittner
Starfighter Decals released Part 1 of their F4U Corsair series last year. Those were mostly late-war Corsairs that weren't flown by anyone "famous". Starfighter Decals continues the series with this release for three post-war Corsairs flying in the Navy Reserves, and one warbird all FG-1Ds:
- Bu.No. 92041, NAS Livermore, Late 1946
- Bu.No 92236, NAS Oakland, October 1948
- Bu.No. 92150, NAS Sand Point, WA
- Bu.No. 76643, VMF-122 Peleliu, LT L.E. Anheuser, 1945
All aircraft are naturally finished in overall Gloss Sea Blue and the Reserve aircraft have colored fuselage bands (orange for the Sand Point and Oakland aircraft, Yellow for the Livermore bird). Decals appear to be in register and are nicely printed.
While the sheet contains the aircraft markings for each Corsair, the "standard" decals (stars-and-bars, etc.) will need to come from other sources, namely the kit.
I definitely thank Starfighter Decals for sending these in for review.
