Wolfpak Decals 1/144 "Dancing in the Dark"
By Matt Bittner
When reviewing Wolfpak Decals, one must mention their instruction sheet. True, they have the usual color side-view (along with top views if necessary, plus "the other side" if the markings differ) but when you go past the instruction sheet containing these side views, you are on to the "meat" of the instructions.
This is their second 1/144 release titled "Dancing in the Dark". While pages one and two consist of the usual marking and color information, with page 3 and beyond you start with a description of the aircraft type. Following that is a description of the unit the aircraft flew with. After the unit information the instruction sheet mentions the specific aircraft the decal(s) are for. Then the last thing you'll find are specific directions for how to model those specific aircraft.
This second 1/144 release from Wolfpak Decals contains:
- HU-16B, 135th Air Commando Group, MD ANG, March, 1963 (finished overall in black)
- KC-135R (63-8017), 909th ARS, 18th WG, May, 2012 (overall in AMC Grey 36173)
- KC-135T (58-0084), 98th ARS, 92nd ARW, September, 1995 (overall in AMC Grey 36173)
- KC-10A (83-0077), 911th ARS, 4th Wing, Seymour Johnson AFB, May, 1993 (overall in AMC Grey 36173)
- EP-3E Aries II, Hainan Island, Incident Aircraft, VQ-1, 2001 (white on top, gloss gull grey on the bottom)
- P-3C AIP, VP-46 Grey Knights, Widbey Island NAS, 2006 (overall gloss gull grey)
- AC-119K "Fly United" Stinger Gunship, 19th SOS, 14th SOW, Nha Trang AFB, South Vietnam (finished in SEA camo on top, black on the bottom)
- C-130A Blind Bad, 347th TAW, Udon AFB, ThailandĀ (finished in SEA camo on top, black on the bottom)
There are some very unique markings on this sheet. All decals are nicely printed and appear to be in register. Be sure to show Wolfpak to keep coming out with 1/144 decals by purchasing these atĀ their site.
Huge thanks to Wolfpak Decals for sending this set in for review.
