Yahu's Latest 1/72 Photoetch
By Matt Bittner
As I have said in the past, I now consider Yahu instrument panels to be the best aftermarket instrument panels around. Sure the ones from other manufacturers are good, but most of them you have to build up which includes adding "something" to the dials to give the impression of "glass". However, with Yahu all you need to do is maybe bend them, maybe add an extra part that is best served as a separate part, then add the instrument panel into the cockpit. That's it. The instrument panels are all pre-painted and pre-assembled (unless, as I mentioned, the extra part is best served separately) so it couldn't be easier.
This time all the releases Yahu has sent are all 1/72. Not only instrument panels but this time Yahu also sent their photoetch built-up seat and belts for the F4U Corsair. This will result in the most accurate-looking Corsair seat available, although it will take some work as there is plenty of folding and bending needed. Included in this release are:
F4U-1 Corsair Instrument Panel
F4U Corsair Seat and Belts
Fokker D.XII Finland Late
Polikarpov I-153 | |
Fw 190 A Late |
While there are no specific kits listed for any of the instrument panels, Yahu does provide instructions on what needs to be done to the Fw 190A Late based on if you add it to the Revell or Airfix kit.
Although I have yet to use any of them in a model, I have come to the conclusion that regardless of whatever other aftermarket used on a kit (photoetch or resin) it's a must to use a Yahu instrument panel in place of any other. They will add that much more interest to any model.
Many, many thanks to Yahu for supplying the review samples.
