Concord's Armor At War series provides a great selection of photos for the armor modeler, and this latest edition builds on the previous volume documenting Panzer Divisions. Long a favorite with armor modelers, German armor subjects have been popular in all the major scales, and you would be hard pressed to find a common vehicle that is not available in kit form. Once you have the kit, though, it's time to figure out how to finish it, and it's at this stage that this book becomes invaluable.
The book begins with a very brief overview of Panzer Division operations, taking up only a couple of pages, tops. The selected bibliography that accompanies this section is half a page as well, in small type, in three columns, so if you want to find out more about a specific Panzer Division, scour that list and you will undoubtedly find all you need to know.
Once the overview is out of the way, the rest of the book is pictorial in nature. Each page has on average three photos presented, and the subjects span the breadth of German armor subjects. All of the photos are black and white, but for those wanting color information there are several color profile illustrations to round out the coverage. The caption information on both the photos and profiles provide lots of useful information as well, making this a nice addition to a research library as well as a modeler's reference. My thanks to Dragon Models USA for the review copy.
