While this book has been out for a few years, I finally took the time to read it all the way through. All of the titles Aeronaut Books has been publishing by author Bruno Schmäling has proven he is the leading expert on the German Air Force during the First World War. All of his titles are expertly written and provides details that are new to me.

This book is on the history of Royal Bavarian Jagdstaffel 76, or Jasta 76. The squadron was only active during the last months of the war, so this is as the most comprehensive history on the unit you will find. On the first page in the book it states: "Its History, Its Pilots, Its Aircraft Markings and Colors". This last part is truly what every modeler needs if this unit interests them. Once again Bob Pearson has provided 36 excellent color profiles to fuel any modeler's finishing desire. In addition the book contains 174 photos and four maps, along with an excellent painted cover by artist Russell Smith.

You will find Albatros D.III and D.V/Va, Pfalz D.XII and Fokker D.VIIs covered, as these were flown by the Jasta. Even though the Jasta only lasted during the last stages of the war, there are plenty of opportunities for the modeler to create a unique piece of Jasta 76 history. This is an excellent piece of history on Jasta 76 and is highly recommended. Search on Amazon for your copy, hardcover or paperback.
