Model Craft Probes

Model Craft Probes

By Matt Bittner

The Model Craft Probes look like dentists tools. I've been trying to figure out other uses for them, but one thing I have used them for is cleaning out panel lines. Using the one with the finest point I was able to get into some panel lines – after lightly sanding the surrounding area to smooth it out – and remove all refuse from them. I can also see using these Probes to help clean out air bubbles/pin holes from resin kits. Before you put CA or Mr. Surfacer in these holes to fill them in you want to remove as much as the resin debris as possible. Anything loose in these holes could keep the filler from settling correctly. Even if the holes are large enough for adding round sprue, you still need to clean them out and I can see the Probes being put to good use for that.

Thanks to Billing Boats USA for supplying these to review.
