Converting an oldie but goodie using an oldie but goodie!

By Jim Marrs

Back to my September column, sort of. I'm still waiting for input from all you guys and gals to flesh out my old kit list so in the meantime here's a sneak preview of an old conversion kit designed to be used on an old kit. Perfect!

Jim built this quite a while ago and I'll let him take it from here:

"I marketed the The Ready Room Cavalier Mustang II conversion kit in 1988 along with some other items.

The conversion set was designed for the Hawk/Testors/Italeri 1/48 scale kit. It includes the prop, six white metal bomb racks, vacuformed parts for the the "Dallas" canopy, the tall tail fin, wheel wells, tip tanks, and and some inside details to flesh out the kit. Markings were not included - I used peel-off vinyl letters applied over the tan cammo to mask off the civil registration. The Accu-Nazis would eat me alive over this project, but I enjoyed it!"

Jim advises me that he's planning to put this set back on the market so stock up on those venerable Testors/Italeri Mustang kits out there. Price and availability info are forthcoming so stay tuned.

I'll try not to be quite so short next month but I really do need your input for my old kit list column - send your suggestions by clicking here. Till then, "Build what YOU like, the way YOU want to".
