Hawkeye Decals' 1/144 Qantas 707-338C

By Chris Banyai-Riepl

The 707 revolutionized air travel and put Boeing on the map for jet passenger transports, resulting in the 707 flying throughout the world in many different liveries over the years.  This decal sheet covers two different liveries worn by the Qantas 707-338Cs, the 1965 scheme and the 1970 scheme.  The liveries are similar but have a few subtle differences.  The basic scheme has a red tail with 'Qantas V-Jet' in white, along with the standard Qantas kangaroo, also in white.  A red cheat line runs from the windscreen back to the stabilizer.  The 1970 scheme has Qantas Australia titles, separated by the Australian flag, while the 1965 scheme has Qantas followed by 'Australia's Overseas Airline'.  The 1965 scheme is also that found on John Travolta's 707 that is currently touring the world.

The decals are well printed and quite thin and provide a total of eight different 707s.  Each Qantas 707 was named after an Australian city, with the city's coat of arms accompanying the title, and this sheet includes all of these.  Engine logos and complete windows & windscreen decals are also included.  If you're wanting to build up a Qantas 707 this one sheet you'll have to get.  And with Travolta's 707 being seen around the world I'm sure this sheet will be quite popular (although you'd have to shorten it up a bit for that one, as Travolta has a 707-138C).

This sheet and other Hawkeye Decals can be purchased from Sandle Hobbies.  Check out their site for the broad listing of decals from this company.
