Lift Here! Decals 1/48 Royal Taifuns: Bf 108s in Yugoslavia

By Chris Banyai-Riepl

With the release of the Eduard 1/48 Bf 108, it wasn't long before the aftermarket people started turning out stuff for it. This limited edition decal set provides some unique markings for the plane, all of which served in the Royal Yugoslav Air Force. In addition to the decals, the set includes a resin propeller, allowing you to accurately build a Bf 108B-1. The decals themselves are well-printed, with the roundels in perfect register. The first option is a camouflaged example from the 704th Liaison Squadron out of Zagreb in 1940. The upper surfaces are finished in ochre, dark brown and dark green over light gray. The codes on the fuselage are in black, and the Yugoslav roundels are on the wings only.

If more solid colors are your cup of tea, the other two choices will be more to your liking. The staff plane of the 6th Fighter Regiment is finished in dark green over light blue. For an interesting touch, the fuselage codes are split between black and white, with roundels on both wings, upper and lower surfaces.

Two-color schemes too complicated? Well, the final scheme is in overall dark blue-gray. This plane is the only one to carry the stylized Taifun logo on the fuselage, and the numbers on the side are in white.

Whichever scheme interests you, this sheet will definitely provide something different from the usual Luftwaffe Taifuns out there. The addition of the resin prop is a nice touch and goes to show the amount of research done for this sheet. If you've got the Eduard kit and have been looking for something interesting, pick this sheet up. You won't be disappointed.
