Eduard 1/72 USN Carrier Deck 1942-1944 Lift Area

By Matt Bittner

Last month Eduard released their 1/72 pre-painted, photoetch USN Carrier Deck 1943-1944 Lift Area (#73416). This month Eduard went one year back and released this 1942-1944 Lift Area (#73418).

As you can see, this 1942-1944 Lift Area is lighter than the 1943-1944 Lift Area. To my eyes it looks almost like untreated wood. As I mentioned in my first review, I will mount this to a piece of wood for easier handling, but for now it looks great under any model of that time frame, just by itself.

You can see in the photos that I have an older-built Hasegawa F4F-4 sitting on top of the lift area section. Could multiple sections be glued together to create a larger display? Probably. There were no actual instructions in the baggie, instead leaving it to the modeler's imagination on how to use these sections. And just for comparison sake, I have both models and both Carrier Decks sitting side-by-side.

Thank you to Eduard for providing this review lift area photoetch.
