Obscureco 1/72 F4U Corsair Replacement Horizontal Tail

By Matt Bittner

With prodding from myself (along with the tail parts I modified) Obscureco has released a set of resin replacement horizontal tail pieces for a 1/72 F4U Corsair.  While I took my tail pieces from the venerable Hasegawa F4U-1D, they can just as easily be used on the better Tamiya kit. Since the very few panel lines are raised, you'll need to re-scribe them if wanting them recessed.

The parts are very nicely cast and don't require a lot of clean up.  However, you'll still want to dry-fit before gluing these on.  Better safe than sorry, I always say.  After some light sanding on the parts you can see in the pictures just how these look on my Hasegawa kit.  Nice!  I would like to think it had something to do with the masters used, but that's probably just me.  Obscureco has done a fine job with the casting.

The gaps where they fit to the Hasegawa kit were due to my over-zeaolus sanding.

My immense thanks to Obscureco for casting these up and providing a set for review.  Now to finish my Hasegawa kit!
