Brengun 1/144 Dewoitine D.520 Aftermarket

By Matt Bittner

True to form, Brengun has released aftermarket for their own 1/144 Dewoitine D.520. Not only a mask set and two vaccuum-formed canopies in the same set (one that can be displayed opened, the other closed), but also a photoetch and resin set:

Brengun BRL144189

The resin replaces the main landing gear and wheels, plus the plug behind the cockpit. It's unusual that Brengun should mold their kits so the area behind the pilot was not molded in plastic, but instead created this separate, resin piece. In a way it does make sense, and will make painting this area easier: spray this area before gluing it in, then after it's been added, apply the clear parts with masks and then spray the rest of the model.

The photoetch covers such thing as cockpit sidewall detail; a replacement, fold-up seat with seat belts; and an instrument panel for the interior. On the outside of the model the photoetch replaces the underside radiator exhaust (after cutting the kit piece away), antennas and main landing gear doors.

Everything Brengun created for their kit will help with building, and displaying, their 1/144 Dewoitine D.520.

My thanks to Brengun for sending these sets to review.
