Brengun 1/48 Yak-7A Photo Etch

By Jacob Russell

Brengun has introduced this photo-etch set for ICM's Yak-7A kit, but it's also suitable for their early and late Yak-9 kits. This is a simple yet comprehensive PE set and it makes numerous upgrades to the Yak's airframe. It consists of 24 pieces on a single brass fret plus a small sheet of acetate for the instrument dial faces.

For the cockpit you get enhancements such as the instrument panel, sidewall consoles, rudder pedals, seat, seat armor, etc.

Exterior upgrades include oleo scissors, landing gear doors, radiator faces, and wing mounted fuel tank gauges.

ICM's Yakovlev 7 and 9 kits are some of the oldest kits in their catalogue and this is evident in their simplicity and lack of refinement. They have been superceded by the Modelsvit and Zvezda Yak kits but can give a good accoount of themselves with the aid of Brengun's excellent photo-etch set.

I recommend this PE set and I would like to thank Brengun for the review sample.
