Eduard 1/144 P-51D Photoetch

By Matt Bittner

Overview

Eduard continues to "up the ante" for their Platz re-releases by releasing a photoetch set for the Eduard/Platz 1/144 P-51D.

The Photoetch

There are some that may be skeptical on why photoetch for 1/144. Not me, as it adds details that would otherwise be missed. Plus, photoetch adds more "scale likeness" to a kit more than injected plastic could. So for their release of Platz' P-51D Eduard provides photoetch parts for the cockpit (a fold up affair that sits on top of the plastic floor); a fold-up control column; seat belts; "tops" to the batteries that sit behind the pilot; replacement oleo scissors for the landing gear; replacement landing gear doors, both main and tail; additional main landing gear-well sidewall detail; and a replacement underside radiator exhaust channel.

Conclusion

This is a great addition to an already very nice kit. The Eduard/Platz P-51D is definitely a superb kit for the scale and adding the photoetch set to it will make it that much better.

I definitely thankĀ Eduard for sending this photoetch set for review.
