Eduard 1/48 P-38J Aftermarket

By Jacob Russell

Eduard has produced some aftermarket items for Tamiya's P-38J kit. Let's have a look at 3 of them.

EX884 P-38J TFace Masks

This is a set of rice paper masks for your P-38's windscreen and canopy. I love using pre-cut masks to simplify what can be a monotonous task.

491294 P-38J Photo-Etch

This is a comprehensive set of 60 parts on 2 frets, one of which is pre-colored, plus a small sheet of acetate gun sight lenses. This fret includes an instrument panel, throttle quadrant and levers, radio box faces, gun firing button, etc. The second fret includes a new seat with separate armor plate, oleo scissors, rudder pedals, supercharger intakes and other enhancements.

648784 P-38J undercarriage legs BRONZE

These undercarriage completely replace the kit's plastic parts. They are highly detailed, cast with brake lines and the front landing gear includes a small piece of well detailed resin.

Tamiya's P-38J kit is accurate and highly detailed right out of the box. The bronze landing gear and PE sets will increase the overall detail level and the TFace masks will speed up masking the windscreen and canopy.

I recommend these aftermarket sets and I would like to thank Eduard for the review samples.
