Eduard1/48 F6F-3 Hellcat Enhancements

By Jacob Russell

Eduard just resissued their Grumman Hellcat F6F-3 in a ProfiPACK Edition. They've wasted no time introducing some new aftermarket for it:

3DL48068 F6F-3 SPACE

Space sets combine 3D printed waterslide decals with a steel photo-etch fret. This set consists of 19 parts. 11 of these are decals and the rest are photo-etched parts on a single fret. Many of the PE parts are pre-painted.

The 3D decals include an instrument panel, starboard sidewall console, and switch panels for both fuselage sides. The decals are straightforward to use: you soak the sheet in warm water for a couple of seconds until the decals slide off the backing sheet. Don't leave the decals in the water too long as this causes them to swell and distort. You can use white glue or GSI Creos (Gunze) Mr. Mark Setter to increase their adhesion and for best results apply clear gloss before attaching them.

The photo-etch parts are the rudder pedals and seat harness.

This is a rice paper mask set for both the exterior and interior of the windscreen and canopy. The set also includes masks for the main wheels and the tailwheel.

Eduard's F6F-3 Hellcat is one of Eduard's older kits yet it stands up well, being both accurate and well detailed. It's great to have it back. I recommend these aftermarket sets and would like to thank Eduard for the review samples.
