It's always worthwhile to read a book about a subject not known until the book has been read. This is the case with the Fokker F.XX; I never knew it existed until I received this book.
And the book isn't just on the F.XX, it starts out with an analysis of all the Fokker trimotors that flew with the Dutch airline, KLM. From the first to the last, all of Fokker trimotors are covered in some fashion. But, the majority of the book is of course on the Fokker F.XX.
It was the last Dutch KLM aircraft that was primarily wood and canvas; from the end of the F.XX the rest of the airliners were mostly metal, being from Fokker or Douglas, for example. But the coverage of the F.XX is complete and gives an excellent idea of how this aircraft was used and its claim to fame in many ways. Unfortunately there was only one built and one way it ended its life was during the Spanish Civil War.
There are plenty of color profiles showing the F.XX throughout its life, and the end of the book shows a radio control model of the F.XX. If I had one wish, it is that Rare-Bird Models create the F.XX as a 3D printed kit, as they are the current manufacturer creating these unusual - and large - aircraft models.
I definitely thank European Airlines for sending this book to review.
