RS Models 1/72 Dewoitine D.520 Vichy

RS Models 1/72 Dewoitine D.520 Vichy

By Matt Bittner

Introduction

Since there isn't anything different between this release and the first release, which I've already written a First Look on, be sure to read that First Look.

The Kit

The RS Models 1/72 Dewoitine D.520 consists of 38 pieces of gray, injected plastic and three clear. In this release - which consists of primarily Vichy  markings - decals exist for the following aircraft:

  • D.520, G.C II/7, S/Lt G. Gauthier, Sidi-Ahmed, Tunesia, September 1940
  • D.520, G.C. II/3, Syria, 1941 (which had a yellow tail)
  • D.520, G.C. I/2, Cpt Ozanne, France, Late 1941 (which includes the typical Vichy yellow/red stripes on the tail and nose)
  • D.520, early 1943, La Sénia (Algiers), which had a U.S. star on the fuselage sides

Like the first release the decals are very nicely done, in register with excellent colors.

There isn't much to these kits. You can finish this kit out of the box and be more than happy with the level of detail included, or go all out and buy the Brengun photoetch set for it and superdetail your model. Either way you'll have an excellent replica of the famous French D.520 fighter.

Many thanks to RS Models for supplying the review kit.
