Eduard 1/72 Bf-110G-4 Weekend Edition
By Matt Bittner
Introduction
I believe Eduard's thinking behind releasing their "Weekend Edition" kits was to provide the modeler with only plastic pieces and one scheme on the decal sheet. This way – allegedly – one could finish a kit in a weekend given the contents of the box. It's a great premise, but given the amount of pieces that come with the Bf-110 series of kits, you'll probably have to spend the entire weekend doing nothing but working on this kit, if you hope to finish it up when Sunday night rolls around. Or better yet, when you have a three-day weekend pull out this kit an you will be able to complete it in a "weekend".
The Kit
I won't go into great detail of what's provided, you can read Steve Hustad's excellent First Look to see what's in the Profipack version of the kit, with keeping it in your mind this release only contains pieces of plastic. The single decal scheme is for Bf 110G-4 - flown by Hptm. A. Breves, Ofhr. W. Telsnig, Uffz. A. Ofers, Stab II./NJG1, Düsseldorf AB, Germany, December 1944, finished overall in RLM 76. The decals appear in register and look nicely printed.
Conclusion
If the Profipack Bf-110G-4 is "too much" then the release of the Weekend Edition will be just for you. With all the plastic pieces and only having one decal scheme, there is the possibility of finishing this in a weekend, especially if you have a three-day weekend to work on it. However, if you still want to add more items to it, then Eduard does have you covered with the separate release of a photoetch set along with their masks (which I do recommend regardless of the "type" of kit picked up).
My thanks to Eduard for sending this in for review.
